When shopping for decorative lighting here's some tips.

1. Bring paint chips and swatches with you, or any other sample dcor. It will help make it easier to coordinate colors and styles.

2. Set your budget before you start shopping and then stick to it. Lighting prices vary greatly depending on manufacturer, supply and demand, and other factors.

3. If you've seen the look you want in a magazine bring it with you. That will make it much easier for the salesperson to visualize what you are looking for.

4. If you can't find what you want have it custom made. Your lighting is important to the finished look of your room so don't settle for anything less than exactly what you want.

As you can see, lamp styles and types are not hard to choose from. You either have a table for a table lamp, floor space for a floor lamp, or wall space for a wall lamp. Simple as that. Then you can just choose the style that will best suit your dcor, and you have got a lamp that goes.
