For general ambient lighting, you may choose to perch lights up in the trees. Choose lights that have a soft and wide light span for softer lighting.

One area that is frequently overlooked when it comes to outdoor lighting are pathways. For example, lighting should be placed every three to four feet along any pathway going to and from the house, garage and other outdoor spots, to ensure that people can see at night time.
